Individual Therapy
The most important aspect of therapy is the relationship between the client and the therapist. It is really important to me that the work I do with people is rooted in a strong connection, and one which centres your experiences and your needs. I am always keen to hear from people how they have come to this point in their lives, what helps them to thrive, and what keeps them stuck. Through this process, we can reach a shared understanding of the situation (a ‘formulation’), and come up with a treatment plan together. I am trained in several therapeutic approaches, and tend to work integratively to address whatever has brought you to therapy. My work involves paying attention to the mind, emotions, and the body, and trying to integrate these in order to generate a sense of wholeness.
I am qualified and experienced to work with people with all sorts of difficulties, including those listed below. Some people find it helpful to use a diagnosis or to label their difficulties; some do not. I will work with you to help you find the right way for you to express and understand your difficulties, and to translate this into a plan moving forwards. For some people this may emphasise unpicking where things are getting stuck, and developing alternative strategies to move forwards; for others, greater focus on exploring and understanding underpinning issue may take greater priority.
Some of the difficulties I can help you with include:
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Phobias
- Bipolar Disorder
- PTSD
- Complex PTSD
- Trauma
- Personality Disorder, BPD, EUPD
- Self Harm
- Autism
- ADHD
- AuDHD
- Neurodivergence
This list is not exhaustive; please get in touch about anything you want support with.
I find that it is usually helpful in the first instance to have a phone call where we can talk about what you would hope to get from therapy, and we can decide together whether to proceed. Sessions are 60 minutes long. I work in person from my base in Petersfield; this is an upstairs room in a town centre location. I also offer online sessions.
Neurodivergence
I specialise in working with neurodivergent adults, whether or not you are diagnosed, and I offer a range of options:
- Post diagnostic support – I will work with you to help you understand what your diagnosis means to you, and what you can do to help yourself thrive.
- Exploratory work – Many people choose not to pursue a full assessment of Autism and/or ADHD, for all sorts of reasons. I can offer a package of sessions to talk through your needs, difficulties, and background, and explore these alongside diagnostic criteria. This provides the opportunity to understand yourself through a different lens and consider what might be helpful going forwards. I am qualified to assess ADHD and Autism, but do not offer this as a sole practitioner. Please note that this would not result in a diagnostic outcome, and would not include a report.
- Individual therapy - I offer 1:1 therapy for a variety of mental health difficulties, tailored for neurodivergence. Many neurodivergent people have experienced trauma in their lives, and I am able to offer a space which navigates both aspects in an integrated way. I use a variety of therapeutic tools and interventions for this, and will work with you to identify what intervention is most likely to be helpful.
Fees and availability
